How is AI changing the enterprise?

We had a great set of speakers and panels yesterday at #AAI16.  Our panel discussion on how AI is changing the enterprise got me thinking about a few key themes and takeaways that can help businesses move beyond the hype and start focusing on the practical applications of AI for business leaders to start thinking about.

  1. No science projects - find the low hanging fruit by asking yourself where AI can start to "move the needle" in your business - be outcome driven and pay for success.
  2. Everyone can be more right, more often - make every employee your smartest employee by augmenting their intelligence - use AI to answer the "what do I not know" question for knowledge workers before they even know to ask it.
  3. Continuous learning will become ubiquitous, free, and embedded everywhere - all touchpoints, all data, all processes -  imagine if your business processes improve themselves while you sleep. Some key disruptors are already doing this - Uber, AirBnB, Netflix, Amazon.
  4. Attack the white spaces - look for opportunities to use machine intelligence to scale areas of the business that current technologies have failed to address - find areas where small, incremental improvements in key metrics can drive massive value.

While the promise of the "autonomous corporation" is still years ahead, the time is now to start finding fast, scalable, and practical ways AI can drive change in enterprises everywhere.  Thanks to the @BootstrapLabs team for a great event.
